CC 3029 H. mirabilis
v. sublineata S. BREDASDORP
- JDV 88-67
A very handsome plant received
from Bob Swan, ex JDV, on 09/09/1998 and the subject of an
ink drawing.

CC 468 H. mirabilis v badia.
Obtained from Jumanery, ex
California, as H.
mirabilis
but visitor discussions favour badia
owing to the shape of the retuse area.

CC 1523 H. mirabilis v. badia.
One of three plants produced from
124 of our own seed, CCO 219, which were sown on 22/02/1992.
The parent
plants were from Jumanery ex California - (CC469 x CC468,
above).
Very nice, whatever you choose to
call them - but if you have any information on the
probable Californian source, I'd be glad to clarify the
name.

CC 3474 H. mirabilis v. badia - NAPIER
Produced from seed received from Cok, (CG 93-111)
ex Field Collected Parent plants
and which was sown on 29/11/1993.
A dark, textured
and handsome clone with long-tipped leaves. It has produced one offset
which I have removed to a separate pot as .
These 2nd and 3rd NEW
photographs show the 'belt
& braces' plant at Ø 75mm and with
one further offset developing when it was sold
at Auction at the Haworthia Society Convention in Leicester
2007

CC 2040 H. mirabilis v. badia
- 4Km. WEST of NAPIER ex LAV One of 11 plants produced from 20 seeds of (CG 93-112)
which were sown on 29/11/1993.
This particular clone is very dark and with long,
pointed leaves. It has previously produced an offset on an inflorescence,
which I was able to remove when it was large enough - and I was also able to
root it successfully.
In recent months the main plant has begun 12 offsets around the base of the original head - so it should become
available in due course. |

CC 2044 H. mirabilis v. badia - 4Km. WEST of NAPIER ex LAV. When sown on 29/11/1993,
11 plants plants were produced from 20 Field Collected Parents' Seeds
which were received from Cok Grootscholten (CG 93-112).
Several plants from this area, produced by
various growers, have shown this attractive speckling in the throat of the
leaves. This is also found in some striking H. emelyae. See Gallery 8b, CC
2149.
The variability in the subjects of these photographs show we really do need far more
information about just what is growing within this locality and what their
relationships are.
Very few H.
mirabilis v. badia show the glorious chestnut colouration associated
with the name.

CC 1231 H. mirabilis v. badia.
Received from Hiroshi
Kobayashi of Japan in 1991 as H. beukmannii,
ex ISI (or Jay Dodson himself, perhaps?).
I also received, at a later date,
another very similar, if not exactly the same, plant as
H. correcta - `nice, natural plant ex Jay Dodson, ISI',
(CC 1230).
If you know of a similar plant
with the above data, or not, please let me know.
DT has suggested it was a badia. It
will slowly fill a 9cm diameter pan to overflowing and
this untypical photograph was taken after several leaves
had been removed for propagation purposes. It
comes readily from leaves and is well worth the time and
effort of multiplying it. |

 |
CC 1520 H. mirabilis v. badia.
Received from Hiroshi Kobayashi
in 03/1992 as a 'nice, good form'.
Possibly a Charles Craib FCP but
with no locality.
This is the glossy, tapered-leaf
form found so desirable and it does take on a chestnut
tint.
When this photograph was taken, I
had removed several of the outer leaves to try to
propagate it.

CC 3167 H. mirabilis v. badia.
From our own seed, batch number
CCO 594 which was sown on 26/12/1996.
The parents were - (CC 1231,
above, x CC 1520, above).
More blushing than chestnut.

half of a twin headed plant. |
