CC 3266 H. bolusiae v. blackbeardiana CC 3266 H. bolusii v. blackbeardiana

An old plant from a BCSS Kettering open day in 1989 and dichotomous for most of its time with us.

CC 80 H. bolusii v, blackbeardiana CC 80 H. bolusii v, blackbeardiana

From Roberto Mangani of Italy in 03/87, as a large 'seedling', 3cm in diameter.

Records at that time detail a fine leaved rosette with white filaments on leaf margins & upper 1cm of keel. Leaf tips clear with dark green veins even on leaf tip margins. Leaf 3.5cm long, 1.75cm wide, 0.2cm thick.

c. 36km. SSE. of CRADDOCK, 6km. SE. of DRENGANSTA - 'W-facing slope in gritty soil with rocks next to them'.

Grown from seed produced by and received from SS, from SS1046 FCPs and sown 27/10/1991.

CC 3340 H. bolusii - LOOTSKLOOF CC 3340 H. odetteae (formerly known as H. bolusii - narrow-leaf form)

LOOTSKLOOF

A narrow-leaf form grown from Steve Hammer seed sown on 23/10/1995 with 32 plants being produced from the 76 seeds.

11 clones were retained and the remainder circulated rapidly!

Lovely, small, fuzzy plants like a tiny aranea but, with us, the flower-spikes starting in February, at a similar time to H. (translucens v. tenera).

Several clones have become dichotomous and others have begun to offset slowly.

I'd asked, 'So... is it H. bolusii, or what?' - and the answer is... No, its H. odetteae and named for Odette Cumming, the wife of David Cumming.
